A good video that explains how the government sees tech platforms
Watching this you can get a sense for how three-letter agency think tanks see tech platforms and the internet. The guy here laments an older era when monitoring a country just meant subscribing to 2 or 3 newspapers from that country, but now everyone has a voice (and that's a bad thing).
He says nothing can be done about this, but I think someone is being done about it, we're being corralled into narrow holding pens like cattle. Those holding pens being Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Discord, etc. Alt Tech is the frontier that is being reigned in by government regulations (ever wonder why there are more and more redundant internet laws passed every year? They're burying Alt Tech under paperwork so they can't compete). This is why they want to kill TikTok, and they killed all of the burgeoning European tech efforts.
But control comes at a cost to the economy. A free economy requires low regulation. Hopefully the think tanks get slapped by their economist colleagues and reminded of reality.
